The article examines the meaning of word “earth” in journalism Zygmunt Gloger (1845-1910). He was Polish ethnologist, historian and archaeologist, whose collected writings have recently been published three-volume Miscellaneous Works (Białystok 2014-2016). is also author four-volume Illustrated Encyclopedia Old Culture (Warsaw 1900-1903). publication does not explore linguistic meanings lexeme “earth”, but interprets what himself calls “imagined earth”. loved archeological expeditions trekking through river valleys, during which he tried to discover secrets earth. For him, earth rich different meanings: it planet, native land, soli, family depository ancient secrets. In his lectures, would sketch an imagined earthly theater, spectacle imagination that represents prehistory “modern” 19th century Poles.
